Mississippi DWFP to Host Youth Fishing Rodeo at Roosevelt State Park

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau is hosting a youth fishing rodeo at Roosevelt State Park on Saturday, November 3, 2012.  The fishing rodeo is open to youth 15 years old and younger, and registration begins at 8:00 a.m.  Roosevelt State Park is located 2 miles SW of Morton at 2149 Hwy 13 South.

“This rodeo offers a quality fishing experience for younger anglers in a controlled and safe environment,” according to MDWFP fisheries biologist Larry Bull. “Our rodeo net is well stocked with catfish to make it easier for our participants to catch fish.  This is a great way for a family to spend quality time together.” Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

Those seeking additional information can call the Roosevelt State Park Office at (601)

732-6316 or Fishing Rodeo Coordinator Sherry Hazlewood at (601) 562-9696.
