Shave the Date to Promote Men’s Health: Outdoor Channels’ Movember Sweepstakes
OutdoorHub 11.01.12
Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader In Outdoor TV, and Movember, the global men’s health charity that aims to “change the face of men’s health” by getting men to grow moustaches and women to support them in order to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
Every year, during the month of November, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on hundreds of thousands of men in the U.S. and around the world. After registering to participate at www.Movember.com, men start November 1st clean shaven and grow their Mo (slang for moustache) for 30 days. Along the way, they raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts. The Mo becomes the ribbon for men’s health and the men growing them become a walking, talking billboard for 30 days. This year, Outdoor Channel is participating in the month-long, Mo- growing movement.
Outdoor Channel has created a sweepstakes to rally network fans and outdoor enthusiasts to get involved using the power of the moustache as an awareness tool for men’s health. Join “Team Outdoor Channel” and Matt Busbice, host of the network’s popular Sunday cable television series “Wildgame Nation,” for this great cause. Simply by donating at least $5 via Outdoor Channel’s Movember team page, from now until November 30th, participants will automatically be entered to win a Wildgame Innovations Grand Prize pack consisting of Matt’s 2008 Toyota Tundra 4X4 Truck filled with prizes valued at $1,000, including a crossbow, rangefinder and case of cameras. For information on how to enter without making a donation, as well as a full set of governing official rules, visit http://www.outdoorchannel.com/Movember/MailInRules.aspx.
The grand prize drawing will be performed in December, from among all eligible entries received throughout the sweepstakes period. The network has also dedicated on-air, online and social media communication via Twitter and Facebook to raise awareness and funds for the Movember sweepstakes.
Through the sweepstakes, Outdoor Channel is showcasing its dedication to men’s health and commitment in spreading the word on the fight against prostate and testicular cancer – one moustache at a time. Team Outdoor Channel hopes to engage a passionate base of outdoorsmen to have a little fun for this worthy cause; donate money for cancer research; and educate men about the health risks they face, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment. Moreover, at the end of Outdoor Channel’s Movember sweepstakes, the company will match the contributions made by Team Outdoor Channel.
Since its establishment in Australia in 2003, Movember has inspired the participation of millions on a global scale. Last year alone, the campaign raised $126.3M.
The sweepstakes runs through Friday, November 30, 2012.
