Idaho’s Market Lake WMA to Conduct Prescribed Burns

Habitat staff at the Market Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) managed by the Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) will be conducting prescribed burns on Market Lake WMA on Wednesday November 7, 2012, weather permitting. This burn is designed to enhance habitat on the marsh complex at Market Lake. According to Market Lake WMA Manager Josh Rydalch, “The area prescribed to burn has not had any burning for over 20 years and the Department hopes to use fire as a management tool. There will be other areas where prescribed fire will be used on portions of Market Lake WMA throughout the winter 2012 and spring 2013.”

AREAS RECEIVING THIS BURN WILL BE CLOSED TO ENTRY TEMPORARILY and will be posted accordingly. This is done for safety purposes. Individuals with questions can contact Rydalch at josh.rydalch@idfg.idaho.gov or 208-390-1611.
