November Tennessee FWC Meeting Set for One Day

The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet in Nashville on Friday, Nov. 30 at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building.

As was the case in October, this month’s meeting will be held on one day rather than the usual two-day format. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Among the agenda items this month will be a tailwater management update from the TWRA Fisheries Division. Environmental Services will present an update on the Cumberland River Aquatic Center at TVA’s Gallatin Steam Plant.

The TFWC restricts the importation of cervid carcasses from Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) infected states and provinces. The restrictions help protect the state’s white-tail deer and elk herd from the potentially lethal developments. TWRA will present information on recent developments in Pennsylvania.

A report on the start of Tennessee’s deer hunting season will be presented to the commission. More than 17,000 deer were harvested the opening weekend of gun season for deer.

A status report on the Cummings Cove Wildlife Management Area located on Aetna Mountain near Chattanooga will be presented. The TFWC will be provided with an overview and assessment of TWRA’s environmental and habitat restoration project.
