Enjoy Family-friendly Activities at Indiana’s Paynetown SRA

An evening of family-friendly activities, including a nature-themed movie, snacks and crafts, is planned for Paynetown State Recreation Area at Monroe Lake on Friday, Dec. 14

The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Monroe Lake naturalist Jill Vance will screen the movie at the activity center, which is next to the beach. Visitors can munch on popcorn and sip hot chocolate during the film, and enjoy an easy make-and-take craft after the movie.

The program is free, and there is no entrance fee at Paynetown SRA during winter.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is the agency of the U.S. state of Indiana charged with maintaining natural areas such as state parks, state forests, recreation areas, etc. There are many divisions within the DNR and each has a specific role. The DNR is not only responsible for maintaining resource areas but also manages Indiana's fish and wildlife, reclaims coal mine ground, manages forested areas, aids in the management of wildlife on private lands, enforces Indiana's conservation laws, and many other duties not named here.
