Colorado’s Cherry Creek State Park Hosts Smokey Bear at Open House

Join Cherry Creek State Park for the Enchanted Forest Holiday Open House in the campground registration building on Dec. 15, between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Discover how wildlife at Cherry Creek State Park prepares for and spends the winter with Colorado Parks and Wildlife Education Coordinator, Mary McCormac. Meet Smokey Bear and firefighters from Rattlesnake Fire and Rescue to learn about how to prevent forest fires.

Also, learn the history of the Cherry Creek area through newly completed interpretive displays. Kids will have the opportunity to earn a junior ranger badge and make fun crafts. Gift certificates and annual park passes, good all year at all state parks, will also be available and make great stocking stuffers. During the open house, take advantage of a 20 percent discount on all merchandise at the General Store, including books, stuffed animals, clothing, and other gift items. Enjoy complimentary hot apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee and holiday cookies while you shop.

A valid state parks pass is required to enter the park, but the event is free and registration is not required.
