Marines Arrive in Dress Blues, Collect NRA Toys for Tots Donation

National Rifle Association donates toys and games to Toys for Tots

It was a special afternoon here at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax. On top of our yearly awards ceremony, we had a visit from representatives of the United States Marine Corps. They were here for the toys.

Toys for Tots to be specific.

Founded in 1947, Toys for Tots has collected more then 452 million toys that found their way to the homes of more than 209 million needy children. We here at the NRA welcome their donation boxes with hundreds of toys every year.

When they arrived, near the end of the Awards Ceremony, they stepped forth and offered a few words:

“The United States Marine Corps Reserve is proud to recognize the National Rifle Association for outstanding support of 2012 Marines Toys for Tots programs. Your generous contributions have enabled the Marine Corps the bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate Children.”In addition to this certificate, we also have presentation. It’s our unit coin from our battalion on the top, on the bottom is the Marine Corps emblem, and in between is a small train of Toys for Tots to represent the children we’re helping here together.

So on behalf of many thankful children, we thank you.”

With that, the two Marines were joined by members of the NRA Executive Staff including Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, NRA Secretary Major Jim Land (USMC Retired), NRA President David Keene and NRA 2nd Vice President Allan Cors.

Pictures were taken, applause was give and a few more toys found their way to a portion of America’s underprivileged children.

Next year, the boxes for donations will return. They will be placed at the doors, filled to the rim, and await for the Marines to return as well. Hopefully we’ll fill them even more come then.
