Nebraska’s Outdoor Heritage Education Complex Open in Late December

The Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex at Platte River State Park will be open Dec. 22-23 and 26-30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The complex features a 60-yard archery range with shooting tower, an indoor pellet gun range, a 50-yard rim-fire rifle range and a trap range with a five-stand sporting clay feature. It is staffed with instructors available to give assistance. Equipment is available to those who have none.

Participants who bring their own firearms must provide their own ammunition. Guns must be in cases and ammunition stored separately upon entering the complex.

Fees are as follows: pellet gun, $3 for 48 shots; archery, $3 for a half-hour or $1 with own equipment); .22 rim-fire rifle, $3 for 20 shots or $3 for half-hour with own equipment; shotgun, $6 for 25 shots or $3 for 25 shots with own equipment; five-stand, $8 for 25 shots or $5 for 25 shots with own equipment.

The park is located in Cass County just east of South Bend off Nebraska Highway 66. A park entry permit is required.
