Leupold Tactical Optics returns as the grand prize sponsor of the 2013 3-Gun Nation Championship finale featuring one of the largest payoffs in practical shooting. The Oregon-based optics manufacturer has put up a $25,000 first-place prize. A matching offer brings the winner’s check to an unprecedented $50,000.
Last year, an all-Team Leupold final culminated with Tommy Thacker taking home the title and prize check. Thacker will be available at his signing at the Leupold booth at Shot Show on Tuesday, Jan. 15th, at 2pm. His teammate Mark Hanish finished second.
The Championship finale is back under the lights, in front of an invitation-only SHOT Show crowd in Las Vegas this January. The final eight Pro Series competitors will vie for the championship on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Clark County Range.
“Aside from being just plain fun, 3-Gun competition provides us with invaluable information about our products,” said John Snodgrass, marketing communications specialist for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “The feedback we receive from the shooters of the 3-Gun Nation Pro Series helps us evaluate and refine our scopes to best meet the needs of competitors, hunters, military and law enforcement.”
The eight finalists will compete in a man-on-man shoot-off using rifles, shotguns and handguns. The first competitor to knock down all the steel targets, including the final stop plate, wins the match.
The 2013 champion will receive his $50,000 prize check from Leupold at their SHOT Show booth (#13023) on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. Invitations to the final shoot-off will be available at the Leupold booth during the SHOT Show.
The 3-Gun Nation Championship is the culminating event of a series of matches comprised of the top 3-Gun competitors from across the country. The 3-Gun Nation Tour is the only point series and qualification standard-setting body in the sport of 3-gun and is sanctioned by the National Rifle Association.
