Sportsman Channel Awards Nominees join Brownells CEO for Guns and Gold
Cast and Crew of NRA’s Guns and Gold took over the Brownell’s booth yesterday afternoon here at the 2013 SHOT Show. There to shoot a special episode of their top rated Sportsman Channel show, they recruited Brownells CEO Pete Brownell to serve as guest expert of two new guns.
“One of the guns we featured today is going up for auction in support of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action,” said National Firearms Director Jim Supica. “The other one is pretty darn cool too.”
The first to face the camera was a Miniature Mauser K98 Rifle. Adopted by the by the German Wehrmacht in 1935, the K98 has seen action in everything from World War II to Algerian War to the current War in Iraq. This particular model, however, is slightly smaller then the standard nine pound four foot construction. Probably about a tenth of that overall.
“The sign of a apprentice gunsmith’s time to go out on his own was the ability to duplicate his master’s work in miniature,” explained Senior Curator Phil Schreier. “This is a wonderful example of such craftsmanship.”
The second piece is one that NRAblog readers might recognize … the 175th Anniversary custom made Colt Single Action Army Revolver.
Manufactured at the famed Colt Custom Shop, this masterpiece hours and hours of painstaking work by Master Engravers Steve Kamyk and George Spring.
“We were looking for something special to share here at SHOT Show,” said Supica. “You’d be hard pressed to find two guns more impressive then these.”
