Ducks Unlimited Wins Golden Moose Award for Best Bird Hunting

Musicians have the Grammys, actors have the Oscars and the outdoor industry has Outdoor Channel’s Golden Moose Awards, which recognize the finest shows on outdoor television. Ducks Unlimited TV (DU-TV) tied for top honors with Pheasants Forever’s “The Flush” in the Best Bird Hunting category at the annual awards show in Las Vegas last night.

“Appearing on behalf of all DU members and fans to accept the award last night was a real honor,” said James Powell, DU director of communications. “I’m proud of the unique way we’ve been able to share the thrill of waterfowling and the satisfaction of wetlands and waterfowl conservation on such a great show.”

More than 20 awards were presented throughout the event, which was hosted by outdoor icon Michael Waddell at The Venetian Hotel and Casino.

“The DU staff and the show’s hosts and crew do an excellent job sharing our mission with viewers across the country and our partners and sponsors provide great support,” said Mike Checkett, DU-TV host. “A special thanks to them, and to everyone who voted for DU-TV this year.”

DU-TV is sponsored by Browning Dirty Bird and Dodge Ram trucks with support from Avery Outdoors and Winchester Ammunition. In addition to a great hunt each week viewers can pick up practical tips on shooting, hunting, conservation and North America’s rich waterfowling heritage.

Ducks Unlimited is the world's leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. DU got its start in 1937 during the Dust Bowl when North America’s drought-plagued waterfowl populations had plunged to unprecedented lows. Determined not to sit idly by as the continent’s waterfowl dwindled beyond recovery, a small group of sportsmen joined together to form an organization that became known as Ducks Unlimited. Its mission: habitat conservation. Thanks to decades of abiding by that single mission, Ducks Unlimited is now the world’s largest and most effective private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization. DU is able to multilaterally deliver its work through a series of partnerships with private individuals, landowners, agencies, scientific communities and other entities.
