Weatherby Adds Back Country to Its Vanguard Series 2 Lineup

Weatherby’s new Back Country rifle weighs just 6.75 pounds and carries the company’s famous SUB-MOA guarantee, as well as the other features common to all Vanguard Series 2 rifles. In addition, Back Country’s chrome moly metalwork with CeraKote Tactical Grey finish provides exceptional resistance to corrosion.

“We introduced an earlier version of Back Country several years ago. Due to popular demand, we brought it back in the Vanguard Series 2,” said company President Ed Weatherby. “It is an ideal rifle for hardcore hunters taking long treks in rugged terrain and nasty weather.”

The Vanguard Series 2 Back Country is guaranteed to shoot a three-shot group of .99 inches or less with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition. Its accuracy-enhancing features include a pillar-bedded Monte Carlo composite stock with spider-web accents, and a 24-inch fluted barrel. A Pachmayr Decelerator pad on the butt stock helps reduce felt recoil.

Like all Vanguard Series 2 rifles, Back Country has a match quality, two-stage trigger and a three-position safety. The trigger has an auxiliary sear for a “creep-free” consistent let-off and pre-set sear engagement at .008-.012. It’s adjustable for weight of pull down to 2.5 pounds.

Caliber options for the Vanguard Series 2 Back Country include .240 Weatherby Magnum, .270 Winchester, .257 Weatherby Magnum, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Magnum and .300 Weatherby Magnum. MSRP: $1,399.
