Prescribed Burn Set at Texas State Park

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has tentatively scheduled a prescribed burn at San Angelo State Park from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, depending on weather conditions.

The burn will be conducted by TPWD personnel who have been trained and meet national wildland firefighting certification standards. Prescribed burns act as a wildlife management tool to restore forest and prairie habitats, as historically maintained by natural fires.

During the burn, some parts of the park will be closed, including certain trails. Park Superintendent Kurt Kemp advised residents to use caution when driving on neighboring roads, as smoke may reduce visibility.

For more information or to request notification about the burn, call 325-949-4757 or 325-949-8935.
