Minn Kota Renews Partnership with Inshore Fishing Association

Minn Kota, the world’s leading manufacturer of electric trolling motors, rejoins the Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) as an official sponsor for the 2013 season. In addition to being a longtime tour sponsor of the IFA Redfish and Kayak Tours, Minn Kota also sponsors the new Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series presented by Cabela’s.

“Minn Kota is a great partner for us and such a strong addition to our group of sponsors,” said IFA Marketing Director Bart Schad. “They build an excellent product and are a well-respected brand among anglers across the country. We’re excited to have them on board again and look forward to the 2013 season.”

The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, N. D. Inventor O. G. Schmidt was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper-soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, N. D.

Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota – North DaKOTA border, Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.

Since its founding, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology.

“Working with the IFA is a great opportunity to show our support to an amazing group of anglers,” said Minn Kota Marketing Director Joe Brown. “It’s also been an ideal platform to showcase our Innovative trolling motors. We’re excited to have that opportunity again in 2013 and look forward to kicking off the season soon.”

Drawing inshore anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, the IFA Redfish Tour is the largest and oldest redfish tour in the nation. Offering anglers the opportunity to compete in low-entry fee events, redfish anglers can fish close to home, minimize expenses and compete for lucrative winnings and contingency prizes. The Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series, set to begin in March 2013, is being billed as the ultimate redfish showdown, featuring the sport’s best anglers in a high stakes, made-for-TV competition.

The IFA Kayak Fishing Tour presented by Hobie Fishing is the fastest-growing kayak fishing tournament trail in the county. Kayak anglers competing in the catch-photograph-release tournaments can take advantage of the numerous money and product prizes awarded to competitors.
