“The Flush” Named Best Bird Hunting Show at Golden Moose Awards

“The Flush” earned honors as the Best Bird Hunting Show in the country at Outdoor Channel’s Golden Moose Awards. The show, which is presented by Pheasants Forever and Federal Premium Ammunition, debuted this past season on Outdoor Channel and tied for top honors with Ducks Unlimited TV. “The Flush” hosts Ron Schara and Bill Sherck will represent the award-winning show at Pheasants Forever’s National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic event next week in Minneapolis.

“Many Pheasants Forever members have a passion for bird hunting that’s equal to their passion for upland conservation. Congratulations to the entire crew at Ron Schara Productions for this new upland showcase and their focus on the people, habitats, dogs and shotguns that make it possible,” says Bob St.Pierre, Pheasants Forever’s Vice President of Marketing. “Pheasants Forever and its members are proud of the top-notch photojournalism and storytelling that have been blended with a hardcore hunting experience.”

“We had an opportunity to ‘re-invent’ Pheasants Forever Television in 2012 with a new name, new graphics and a new format,” said “The Man Afield” Bill Sherck, co-host of “The Flush,” “We incorporated more-intense hunting action and some absolutely wild destinations. The feedback on the new show has been fantastic. We’re proud of this award and we’re proud of our partnership with Pheasants Forever.”

Dedicated to wildlife habitat conservation since 1982, Pheasants Forever will celebrate its 30th anniversary at its National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic event February 15-17 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Schara, who is well-known among pheasant hunters for his trademark black Labrador retriever, “Raven,” will kick off the event as the Grand Marshal of a “Bird Dog Parade” featuring more than 30 different dog breeds; Sherck will emcee this parade which begins at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 15th. Find Ron Schara Productions at the show in booth #811.

Additional sponsorship support for “The Flush” is provided by: South Dakota Department Tourism, Aberdeen-South Dakota, Purina Pro Plan, Polaris, Carlson’s Choke Tubes, and SoundGear.

Pheasants Forever launched Quail Forever in August of 2005 to address the continuing loss of habitat suitable for quail and the subsequent quail population decline. Bobwhite population losses over the last 25 years range from 60 to 90 percent across the country. The reason for the quail population plunge is simple - massive losses of habitat suitable for quail. There are five major factors leading to the losses of quail habitat; intensified farming and forestry practices, succession of grassland ecosystems to forests, overwhelming presence of exotic grasses like fescue that choke out wildlife, and urban sprawl.
