Frabill and Plano—companies renowned for putting innovative fishing gear into the hands of anglers for decades—officially announce the signing of bass tournament prodigy Jacob Wheeler.

Wheeler, a 22-year-old Indianapolis, Indiana young-gun not only brings with him multiple top honors in bass tournaments across the United States, but a lifelong loyalty for the quality products engineered by Plano and Frabill.

“It’s awesome to be part of the team of two of the most well-known and innovative names in the fishing industry,” says the down-to-earth Wheeler. “I’ve been a devoted user of Plano and Frabill gear since I was a kid, and now I have the means to share my passion for the products with others, from Plano’s amazing tackle storage solutions to Frabill’s awesome landing nets.”

Wheeler set himself apart from many veteran anglers inside only a few short seasons of professional fishing by becoming the youngest angler to win the prestigious FLW Forrest Wood Cup, on Georgia’s Lake Lanier in August of 2012, at the spry age of 21. Just the year before, he took first place in an FLW BFL All-American National championship; again the youngest in history to ever achieve this honor.

Since 2008, Wheeler’s been leaving rivals in their boat wakes, taking top honors in tournaments from junior divisional derbies to local tournaments, right up to his rightfully-earned $500,000 payout that came with the FLW Championship.

To say Jacob Wheeler got up on a plane and passed the status of “up-and-coming” in the ranks of bass fishing in just a few full fishing seasons is an understatement. The fishing phenomenon will be an asset to both Frabill and Plano and the next generation of flourishing fishermen. Wheeler’s knowledge of fishing the clear waters of the north, to the stained reservoirs of the south and all waters in-between will benefit all.

Wheeler now joins the ranks of other vaunted Plano pro staff bass-fishing legends such as Hank Parker, Kevin VanDam, Tim Horton and others.
