Elk, Pronghorn Hunt Application Deadline Extended to Feb. 14 in Arizona

The Arizona Game and Fish Department has extended the application deadline for Arizona’s 2013 elk and pronghorn antelope hunts to Thursday, Feb. 14, by 7 p.m. (MST).

The extension was announced after extremely high demand caused the online application service to slow today, preventing many applicants from accessing or completing the application process. The original deadline had been 7 p.m. today (Feb. 12).

“The department anticipated high demand and had expanded the capacity of the online system for this draw cycle, but the demand today has been extraordinary,” said Jim Paxon, information chief for the Arizona Game and Fish Department. “We’re seeing more than two-and-a-half times the number of applications we received on deadline day last year, which shows the passion hunters have for these hunts.”

The deadline extension applies to online applications as well as to paper applications. Department officials stated that applications must be received by the department by the new Feb. 14, 7 p.m. deadline; postmarks don’t count.

The department apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused customers.
