Western Hunting and Conservation Expo and MDF National Convention Return to Salt Lake City, Utah
Mule Deer Foundation 02.13.13
The Western Hunting and Conservation Expo (WHCE) and Mule Deer Foundation’s National Convention returns to Salt Lake City, Utah for the 7th year. MidwayUSA returns as the Official Sponsor of the WHCE which is fast becoming one of the largest hunting and conservation shows in the West. The four day Expo will be held February 21-24 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
With 2013 marking the 25th Anniversary of the Mule Deer Foundation, this year’s expo is expected to be bigger and better than ever. In addition to the daily exhibits and auctions, attendees can also attend free seminars on hunting, game calling and how to successfully hunt with a GPS. There is also a “Hawaiian Luau” Ladies Luncheon and Auction on Friday, February 22.
The WHCE boasts one of the largest taxidermy displays. Vendors included hunting guides, artists, the latest hunting gear and much more. Brian “Pigman” Quaga will appear in the exhibit hall on Friday and Saturday of the Expo. Three Time World Champion Coyote Caller, Al Morris, will conduct seminars on coyote calling.
Keynote Speaker on Saturday night will be NRA Executive Vice-President, Wayne LaPierre followed by the auction and entertainment by the Oak Ridge Boys.
The auctions are the highlight of the WHCE. State Auction tags for mule deer, elk, bighorn sheep, moose generate considerable excitement. Last year several mule deer tags sold for over $200,000. Over 93% of the proceeds of these State Auction tags go back to state wildlife agencies to help manage their big game populations.
The Youth Conservation Experience (YWCE), a program started by MidwayUSA’s Founders, Larry and Brenda Potterfield at the 2012 WHCE will be back again bigger and better this year.
“The Mule Deer Foundation is a great organization full of sportsmen and women who share the same passion for conservation that Brenda and I do,” said founder and CEO Larry Potterfield. “Thanks to their continued support and that of our Customers, MidwayUSA is able to sponsor organizations like Mule Deer Foundation that help ensure the protection of our wildlife and hunting heritage.”
“The members of MDF are extremely proud to have MidwayUSA, not only as the Official Sponsor of the WHCE but also the Official Sponsor of the Mule Deer Foundation,” said MDF CEO Miles Moretti. “Their sponsorship is helping MDF accomplish their mission of restoring mule deer populations and continuing our hunting heritage with the next generation of hunters.
