New Mexico Deer and Elk Harvest Reporting Deadline Extended

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish Friday extended the deadline for deer and elk hunters to report their 2012-13 harvest information, the Department announced Friday. A water system failure at the Department’s headquarters sent Santa Fe employees home about 10 a.m., and made the deadline extension necessary.

The Department’s Information Center also suspended operations. The Center takes harvest reports and applications for hunters who do not have computer access. The water supply should be restored late Friday, and the Information Center is scheduled to be open noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.

Game and Fish offices in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Raton and Roswell remain open. Those offices contain computer kiosks where hunters may file harvest reports.

The deadline for deer and elk hunters to report their 2012-13 harvest success is now 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18. Deer and elk hunters who do not submit their harvest reports by then will not be eligible for the 2013-14 draw hunt licenses, and will have to pay an $8 late fee if they wish to use private-land licenses for deer or elk. The Information Center number is 1-888-248-6866.
