Post Your Fishing Tournaments at OutdoorAlabama.com

Fishing tournament organizers are encouraged to post their tournaments in the fishing section of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) website. To post an event, visit www.outdooralabama.com/tournaments/view.cfm, and click “Post a Fishing Tournament.” This tournament listing is a free service of the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF).

“The posting does not reserve the facilities where the tournament actually takes place, but it does provide publicity for the event,” said Damon Abernethy, WFF Fisheries Development Coordinator. “The event listing also allows boaters, anglers and other tournament organizers to see when and where tournaments are being held so they can plan their trips or events ahead of time and reduce congestion at the boat ramps.”

Events with more than 100 boats require a free permit from the Alabama Marine Police Division. For a permit application, contact Subrena Davis via email at Subrena.Davis@dcnr.alabama.gov or call 334-242-3630. All applications must be received at least 15 days prior to the event.

Bass tournament organizers, especially club tournaments, are encouraged to participate in Alabama’s Bass Angler Information Team (B.A.I.T.), a voluntary program in which anglers share their catch statistics with ADCNR following each tournament. The information is essential in setting the length and bag limits designed to maintain the high quality of Alabama’s bass fishing. For more information including forms to record tournaments results, call WFF Fisheries Development Supervisor Damon Abernethy at 334-242-3471.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) boat ramps are built and maintained with funds from boaters and anglers. ADCNR promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
