Boone County, Indiana Sheriff Ken Campbell recently released a video that explores the differences between magazine sizes. In the demonstration an experienced and novice shooter are given a variety of magazines and firearms to test on three paper targets; Sheriff Campbell then systematically challenges the currently proposed magazine ban point-by-point.

One scenario involves a bystander attempting to disarm the shooter during a reload–a major talking point for proponents of magazine capacity restrictions–while another involved a “New York Reload” where the shooter exchanged firearms instead of reloading.

The test was reportedly funded by ArmaLite, a gun manufacturer famed for their AR-10 and AR-15 rifle designs.

Let’s watch the sheriff crunch the numbers:

  1. Its apparent “Jim” is trying to fire faster when he needs to reload. Hopefully it isnt on purpose since I would want the tests to be as accurate and reliable as possible. That is how he is getting a lower time on the second round of tests. I think the most substantial proof though is the 1911 test. Most any one that has practiced can do that with the standard 7 rounders. Most people not familiar with firearms dont realize this capability has been around for a 100 years.

  2. Fantastic example of what I’ve been trying to tell people all of this time. The Virginia Tech shooter racked up the highest casualty rate of any U.S mass shooting, and he did it with a compact 9mm Glock 19 and a .22 with 10 round capacity. He reloaded 17 times. Didn’t help the situation one bit… Not one bit.

  3. Good demo but make no mistake about it. Feinstein and her ilk want to take away all magazine fed weapons unless the gun requires a special tool to facilitate the mag change out. The 5th rule of gun safety. “Protect your weapons from those who won’t observe the first 4 and liberals who want to take them away”.

  4. I love this demostration. Even the Army 100 years ago overcame the 7 round resriction in the 1911 .45 caliber.

  5. It’s good to know law enforcement is on our side. It seems the Democrats have picked a fight that stinks as bad as they do. There are no good Democrats, only bad and worse. If you don’t believe me, just look at the state of the nation.
