NWT to Host Future Angler Events at All 2013 Tournaments

The National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) has partnered with the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour and will offer Future Angler events at each NWT tour stop in 2013. The youth-oriented activities will include a free rod and reel combo and “Future Pro” t-shirt to the first 100 children present at each event.

The nonprofit NPAA is focused on growing the sport of fishing and works actively with the Future Angler Foundation to host Future Angler events across the country each year. Each Future Angler Event features educational seminars and training for youth from top-notch NPAA members – many of whom are seasoned, professional anglers. In 2012, NPAA Future Angler events impacted more than 8,700 youth and 4,000 parents.

“The NPAA and Future Angler events are a tremendous addition to the NWT,” said Anthony Wright, Tournament Director. “We’re a family-focused organization and their efforts on behalf of the sport at large and especially among young, future anglers are invaluable. We’re thrilled to have their support and look forward to reaching so many young anglers and their families in 2013.”

“Our mission for years has been to grow the sport and I can think of nothing better than getting young people involved,” said NPAA Executive Director Pat Neu. “The Future Angler events allow us to interact with so many children and families, and most all of them have a genuine passion for fishing. They’re really perfect ambassadors for our sport.”

NPAA membership, now over 500 strong, has more than doubled over the past four years. In addition to growing the sport of fishing, the NPAA also strives to increase the professionalism of their members. Through industry promotions, annual workshops and networking, the NPAA can help anglers accomplish their pro aspirations.

The all-new National Walleye Tour will begin April 26, 2013, and will include a total of three qualifying events, plus a year-end championship. The NWT website is already accepting registrations for all events online. The website offers numerous details on the circuit, including official rules, tournament structure, payout and incentives.

Each NWT event features over 100% payback. A fully rigged Ranger Boat, plus cash, is guaranteed for first place at each event – a total value of $57,000. Anglers that fish all three regular season events, in addition to the top points leaders, will gain entry to the three day, entry-fee championship.

The new circuit also includes unprecedented television and media coverage, allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the National Walleye Tour will be seen on The Texas Channel, World Fishing Network, Pursuit Channel, as well as the new NBC Sports Network.

For more details, anglers are encouraged to call 612-424-0708 or check out the new website at www.nationalwalleyetour.com. From here, site visitors can register for events, view the TV schedule and learn more about what’s in-store for 2013.
