New Mexico’s Eagle Nest Lake Closed to Ice Fishing
OutdoorHub 03.07.13
Eagle Nest Lake is closed to ice fishing and other activities on the ice because of recent warm weather that caused rapidly deteriorating and unsafe ice conditions, the Department of Game and Fish and New Mexico State Parks announced.
The lake is still mostly covered with ice, but it is soft and beginning to break up. No fishing is allowed at this time, but the lake will reopen to fishing from the bank when there is sufficient open water. Anglers are advised to contact the state park for current fishing and ice conditions at (575) 377-1594.
Eagle Nest Lake State Park will remain open for camping and other activities.
