Blue Heron Communications announces the retirement of Bill Booth, who will end his 19-year stint as an account executive and firearms expert for outdoor-specialty agency effective March 31.

Booth joined Blue Heron following his retirement from his first career as a police officer. Booth reached the rank of lieutenant in the Oklahoma City Police Department during his 28-year career in law enforcement, which included extensive work in crime scene investigations and as a SWAT operator and trainer. Booth’s expertise as an armorer, marksman and ballistician gave him instant credibility with clients and the outdoor media in his work with Blue Heron’s firearms and shooting-related clients, most notably Smith & Wesson and Thompson/Center.

A lifelong passion for the outdoors has taken Booth from Alaska to South Africa in search of trophy fish and game, with few sportsmen who can equal his experience and success with long-range handgun hunting. But Booth’s most important contributions to the outdoor industry came at the range when he stood behind the firing line. Renowned for his ability to quickly and effectively teach first-time and female shooters, it was commonplace for Booth’s pupils to achieve sub-inch groups within an hour of touching a handgun for the first time and his tutelage helped to draw legions of newcomers to the shooting sports.

“Folks are lucky to have one career of which they can be proud, but not many people have two,” said Blue Heron President Gary Giudice. “Bill is one of those rare few who worked in two entirely different fields, serving with distinction in both. He deserves to go spend his time now with grandkids, passing on his passions for hunting, fishing and the shooting sports. They may be the luckiest grandkids on the planet.”

A formal announcement regarding Booth’s successor will be made in the coming weeks.
