Faircloth Tops BassFan World Rankings

Capitalizing on the bump he received from winning the Sabine River Bassmaster Elite Series, Todd Faircloth has moved to the top of the BassFan World Rankings presented by Livingston Lures for the first time in his career. He’s the third angler to hold the No. 1 position in 2013, following David Dudley (who carried the lead into the new year) and reigning Elite Series Angler of the Year Brent Chapman.

“That’s pretty cool,” the soft-spoken Texan said when informed of his ascension. “It’s something that a lot of the pros pay attention to, I know I do, and it’s something I’m pretty proud of.

“There’s been a lot of big names that’ve carried that No. 1 position. I’ve been close a few times, but I’d never gotten all the way to the top before.”

Faircloth has two Elite Series victories and a runner-up finish on his ledger in the past 13 months.

Chapman, who’s finished 33rd and 42nd in the first two Elite events, slipped to 3rd in this edition behind FLW Tour stalwart Bryan Thrift.

In other notable movement:

  • Lewis Smith Lake FLW Tour winner Brent Ehrler, a former No. 1, is back inside the Top 10 after moving up six places to 6th.
  • Falcon Lake Elite Series winner Keith Combs climbed 14 places to 13th.
  • Dudley, who was 104th at Lewis Smith, dropped another five places to 8th.

The next event that will impact the rankings is the Beaver Lake FLW Tour, set for April 11-14.
