Louisiana Hunters Could Win an Opening Day Hunt, Shotgun, or Cabela’s Jacket

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (DWF) will be mailing waterfowl surveys to 2,500 randomly selected hunters and an additional 2,500 will receive survey postcards to be completed online. Previously, there was no incentive to returning these surveys–other than benefiting wildlife management statewide–so the department decided this year to do something new.
According to the department, every hunter who participates in the survey will be entered in a drawing for:
- A hunt for two on opening day of the 2013 September Teal season at White Wetland Conservation Area
Or
- A Remington 887 Nitro-Mag 12 gauge shotgun
Or
- A Cabela’s Brush Buster GORE-TEX 4-in 1 Parka or Wading Jacket
Information gathered from the surveys will lead to decision making on zone boundaries, potential season dates and a host of waterfowl hunting policies. Last season the DWF changed hunting zones for the first time in 36 years along with different season dates. It was a controversial move at the time because it split up the state’s two major waterfowl zones into three parts, along with changing some season dates to match.
