Mercury Marine-sponsored angler Jason Christie was propelled to victory Monday at the Bassmaster Elite Series Ramada Quest bass fishing tournament in Bull Shoals, Ark.
Christie’s four-day winning weight of 56 pounds 8 ounces put him ahead of fellow Mercury pros Fred Roumbanis, Casey Scanlon, Cliff Prince, Britt Myers and Terry Scroggins who joined Christie in the Mercury Pro Team’s sweep of the top six places in the tournament. Due to heavy rains the prior week, the tournament was postponed by a day.
Christie’s victory was notable for multiple reasons: He had picked up a championship trophy just one week earlier, winning the Walmart FLW Tour at Beaver Lake in Rogers, Ark. And, with today’s win, Christie set a record for the largest final day move in the standings in Bassmaster Elite Series history. Christie began the day in eleventh of twelve places but charged to the win by weighing five bass weighing an even 18 pounds.
Today’s win also qualifies Christie for the 2014 Bassmaster Classic. In all, Mercury-sponsored anglers garnered 10 of the top 12 positions at Bull Shoals.
