Give mom a Mother’s Day she will remember with a scenic, guided hike through the beautiful Woodmont Natural Resources Management Area (NRMA).  A park ranger will lead the tour, explaining what has made Woodmont such a wild paradise for the past 150 years, and highlighting the newly-constructed Wildlife History Trail. The hike is taken at leisurely pace and will cover approximately 3.5 miles round-trip.

The tour is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine. Participants will meet at 1 p.m. at the new trailhead parking lot off of Woodmont Road. Hikers should dress for the weather and pack sunscreen, insect repellant, water and a snack or lunch. Sturdy footwear and long pants are recommended.

Woodmont Road is accessed from I-68 exit 77. Follow Woodmont Road approximately 6 miles south and turn left into the trailhead lot. Special event signs will be posted to provide direction. The Woodmont NRMA, owned and managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Fort Frederick State Park complex, consists of 3,500 acres of open fields, mature hardwoods and intermittent streams.
