The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has confirmed a new state record for the spotted gar taken by method other than rod and reel (Class B) which came at Reelfoot Lake.

Jim Ulerick, of Kokomo, Ind., took the fish by archery on April 14 that weighed 12 pounds on Reelfoot Lake. It was 39 and one-half inches in length.

The new record fish surpasses the previous record of 10 pounds, 8 ounces. The previous record was also set on Reelfoot Lake in April 2009.

The criteria to be considered for a state record fish along with the new record application and instructions, state records and fishing license information are in the 2013 TWRA Tennessee Fishing Guide.
