Fishing for sharks from a boat can bring high levels of adrenaline, however, fishing for the large predator from a sandy beach is quite another adventure! Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, brings viewers a shark experience they will never forget on Reel Time with Florida Sportsman. The private beaches of the southeastern Florida coast is where the best shark action occurs and Capt. George Gozdz and guest host, Peter Barrett, educate and ‘reel’ in big time results. The target species is a blacktip shark and the men go above and beyond in their journey to demonstrate the joys of shark fishing from a beach. Don’t miss Reel Time with Florida Sportsman this Saturday, May 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Upon arrival, Peter Barrett gives viewers a blow-by-blow account of the heavy duty, stand-up gear he is using and the fish head bait. Showing no fear, Barrett boards his kayak and paddles out 100 yards to drop the bait. After waiting and watching, the reel ‘clicks,’ which tells the crew the battle is on! Unfortunately, the end result is a barracuda – not exactly what they were seeking. After moving locations, their patience pays off. Capt. George gets a bite and battles long and hard for his first blacktip shark. The intense fishing continues into nightfall as the sharks keep biting and the battle grows even larger in scale.
“Catching sharks was thrilling and I will always cherish the memories,” said Capt. George Gozdz, host, Reel Time with Florida Sportsman. “If anyone is looking to learn how and where to fish for sharks, I would highly recommend Peter Barrett. He is a strong advocate for conservation and always releases the sharks he catches.”
