Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Results For the Monongahela River in West Virginia

This past Saturday May 20th, the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Monongahela River at Morgantown, West Virginia. In the event some of the top anglers from 8 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic. This year’s Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be held September 26-28, 2013 on Kentucky Lake at Camden, Tennessee Be sure to check out our new website at: www.kingkatusa.com. It’s a new site with new and exciting information on our events along with special information for catfish anglers everywhere.

Results for the Top Teams

Taking first place was the Frankfort, Ohio team of Nick Anderson and Willie Smith with a total weight of 60.76 pounds and earning $3,000.00. Nick and Willie were fishing within a mile of the weigh i9n site using bluegill to catch 20 fish for the day.

In second place was Zach and Ashley Grim of Morgantown, West Virginia with a weight of 54.9 pounds and earning $1,500.00. Zach and Ashley were fishing off Point Marion about 100 yards out into 4-10 feet of water using skipjack and shad.

Third place went to the 3 person team of Don, Ethin and Alex Hoffman all of Arcanum, Ohio with a weight of 42.76 pounds and earning $500.00. Don, Ethin and Alex were fishing within a mile of the weigh in site using cut shad.

A big thanks to Dave Plevich from the Morgantown CVB for all his help with the tournament and Kids  Rodeo and to Longview Power for their sponsorship of the event.  The Kid’s Rodeo saw 68 participate  with each receiving a Cabela’s rod and reel from Dave and a T shirt from Joe Douglas Environmental Mgr. of Longview Power.
