Free shooting at Lee Kay, June 7 and 8 in Utah
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources 06.03.13
If you’ve never shot a .22 rifle before, visit the Lee Kay Public Shooting Range on June 7 and June 8.
The range is holding an open house both of those days. During the open house, the range’s archery, rifle and handgun ranges will be open for free. And, if you want to shoot on the shotgun range, you can for a reduced fee.
If you’re a first-time shooter, part of the range will be set aside just for you. .22 rifles and enough ammunition to shoot at least a few rounds will be provided free of charge. Free instruction will also be provided by Division of Wildlife Resources staff and Hunter Education instructors.
“If you’ve never shot a .22 before,” says RaLynne Takeda, “this will be the perfect time to try. It won’t cost you a thing, and trained instructors will be available to teach you how.”
Bows, arrows and free instruction will also be provided on the range’s archery range.
Takeda, shooting sports coordinator for the DWR, says the open house isn’t just for beginning shooters; experienced shooters are invited too.
“Plan on joining us for a fun day at the shooting range,” she says.
The Lee Kay Public Shooting Range is at 6000 W. 2100 S. in Salt Lake City. Free shooting will be offered at the following times:
