Vermont Public TV Special June 13: Protecting VT Wildlife

Vermonters are avid wildlife watchers, and Vermont Public Television invites viewers to do some indoor watching and ask questions about wild creatures during a live program airing Thursday, June 13, at 8 p.m. Lawrence Pyne will host “Protecting Vermont’s Wildlife: An Outdoor Journal Special,” on VPT and vpt.org.
Staff from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department will report on their efforts to protect species of concern and wildlife habitats. Panelists will include wildlife management program director Scott Darling, wildlife diversity director Steve Parren, and fish and wildlife special projects manager Kim Royar. Darling is an expert on white-nose syndrome, which threatens bats, including endangered species such as the Indiana bat.
Other topics may include bald eagles, common loons, peregrine falcons, ospreys, spruce grouse, Bicknell’s thrush, black terns, Canada lynx and martens.
Viewers are encouraged to participate by phone and email during the one-hour program. Questions and comments may also be submitted in advance to connect@vpt.org.
