King Kat Tournament Results for the $10,000 Super Event at Dixon, Illinois

This past Saturday June 8th, the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Red River at Dixon, Illinois for a One Day $10,000.00 Super Event. In the event over 125 top anglers from 10 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic. This year’s Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be held September 26-28, 2013 on Kentucky Lake at Camden, Tennessee Be sure to check out our new website at: www.kingkatusa.com. Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place was the team of Joe Dyer of Rock Falls, Illinois and Dan Dippel of Ottawa, Illinois with a weight of 48 pounds and earning $3,600.00. Joe and Dan also captured big fish of the event with a 28.74 pound catfish giving them a $1,200.00 bonus. Joe and Dan were targeting fish in 8 feet of water just below the dam using live bluegill and cut shad. Their fish were on a late morning bite and quit hitting around noon, but managed to catch 10 fish during including big fish of the event. Each team is allowed to weigh in their top 5 fish for their day of fishing.

In second place was the Sterling, Illinois team of Tom and Clint Walker weighing in 41.5 pounds and earning $2,000.00. Tom and Clint were fishing the Belmont area in 6-10 feet of water using prepared baits and bluegill to catch 5 fish for the day.

Third place went to the Rock Falls, Illinois team of Matt Dennison and Tyler Richards weighing in 31.02 pounds and earning $1,250.00. Matt and Tyler were fishing below the dam in 6-10 feet of water using live bluegill to catch 5 fish for the day.

Eddie and Frank Sanders of Sterling, Illinois took fourth place with a weight of 30.08 pounds and earning $900.00. Eddie and Frank were fishing the Como area in 4 feet of water using cut shad and bluegill to catch a total of 12 fish for the day.

Fifth place went to the Rock Falls, Illinois team of Mike Doyle and Brock Law with a weight of 27.72 pounds and earning $700.00. Mike and Brock were fishing right up close below the dam in 8 feet of water using bluegill to catch 8 fish for the day.

“The weather and water conditions were picture perfect with temps in the 70’s on tournament day. Several hundred spectators turned out to see the quality of fish coming out of the Rock River. O’Donnell cranes added a nice touch being on hand to fly Old Glory and the Cabela’s flags high over the seminar and the weigh in site on Friday and Saturday. Also a special thanks to Dave Frye of O’Donnell Cranes for hanging Ole Glory and Cabela’s flags high over the river and the seminar site at Ace Hardware.
