Oregon Closes Two Willamette Greenway Properties to Hunting on Sept. 3

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will close two Willamette Greenway properties in Lane County—Browns Landing at River Mile 167.25 and Lynx Hollow Access at River Mile 16.5—to hunting for public safety reasons. The closure is effective September 3, 2013.

Brown’s Landing is a 0.3 acre boat skid (at RM 167.1 on the left bank when facing downstream) which is primarily a river access point, as there is little opportunity to hunt or recover wild game.

Lynx Hollow is on the Coast fork of the Willamette River at River Mile 17.2. It is a popular walking and hiking location. Hunting was allowed within 100 feet of the river bank at this area, but OPRD is closing the area to hunting to avoid conflicts with these other user groups. The area received moderately heavy hunting use, but hunters may still hunt directly across the river from the Lynx Hollow site.

More than 100 Oregon Parks and Recreation Department properties along the Willamette River are part of the Willamette Greenway. Many of these sites are open to hunting and can be explored online at oregonhuntingmap.com. State Parks and the Oregon State Marine Board also publish the Willamette River Recreation Guide http://tinyurl.com/willametteriverguide.
