Video: Golden Eagle Takes Down Two Sparring Grouse
OutdoorHub Reporters 09.19.13
Mating season is often a dangerous time for the species involved, and few better examples exist than this popular video. At first, what appears to be two woodland grouse males engage in a fight, but are quickly broken up by a Golden Eagle that takes down one of the game birds. Either not content to have his competition dispatched in such an unorthodox manner or considering the bird of prey to be another competitor, the other male starts to harass the eagle. Right around the :40 mark the grouse is probably regretting not leaving when he had the chance.
