Video: Humpback Whale “Slaps” Diver

A dive off the eastern coast of Africa resulted in professional cameraman Chris Coates getting a little too close to a humpback whale—so close that he met the underwater behemoth face-to-fin. It is doubtful that the whale intended to hit him with its pectoral fin, but you can hear the cameraman’s distress as the animal approaches.

Coates was not seriously injured in the accident.
