Conservation Leaders Join BCI Advisory Team

Becky Humphries has joined the Berkley Conservation Institute’s (BCI) Conservation Leaders Advisory Team (CLAT). Humphries replaces retiring CLAT member Noreen Clough and joins current CLAT members Dr. Bill Taylor of Michigan State University, Dr. Ian Cowx of the University of Hull, UK and Ken Haddad retired director of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as advisors on strategy and emerging conservation issues. CLAT members work closely with Jim Martin, Conservation Director for the BCI and with John Doerr, CEO of Pure Fishing.
“We are so delighted to have Becky Humphries joining our team of world class conservation advisors,” said Martin. “Her experience leading a state department of natural resources as well as leadership roles at Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation are so valuable to us. We rely on our advisory team to help us decide how we can use our resources and our partnerships to make the most difference for the fisheries resource and the future of fishing.”
Humphries is currently the Executive Vice President of Conservation for the National Wild Turkey Federation. In that role she provides oversight for all conservation operations including administration, project delivery, planning, research and evaluation. Prior to joining NWTF Humphries was Director for Conservation for Ducks Unlimited. Before Ducks Unlimited she was the DRNE Director with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Ms. Humphries is active in regional and national associations and served as vice president of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. She holds a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management from Michigan State University, and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Science by Central Michigan University.

The CLAT meets with Pure Fishing leadership twice each year to discuss fishery policy and conservation. This advice helps BCI develop its conservation agenda each year and also suggests policy initiatives to “move the needle” for better fishing in the future on a worldwide basis.
