When it comes to fighting, even deer have to practice. The video below shows two young spike bucks sparring with another. It may lack the adrenaline and raw force of a “real battle” between two adult males, but for some reason this practice match almost seems more dangerous.
We were fully expecting one of the deer to get their eye poked out by those sharp antlers.
Contrary to popular belief, yearlings with spike antlers can grow normal-looking racks later on in life. There have been plenty of spike bucks that were later documented growing into massive trophy bucks with 10 points or more. Perhaps these two may as well.
