Video: Advanced Carbon Fiber Slugs Cruise Through AR500 Armor Like Butter

It’s amazing what people can build with a little know-how and determination.

AR500 armor is often touted as the end-all be-all in ballistic protection, and for good reason. There are plenty of examples of AR500 armor standing up to all kinds of projectiles including .50 BMG. However, AR500 armor has met it’s match with this new homemade 12GA carbon fiber and carbide slug. Due to the low overall weight of the slug and the extreme hardness of the carbide core this projectile easily defeated the armor plate in almost every test.

While these slugs might seem interesting you shouldn’t expect to see them available in stores anytime soon.
