First Look: The Ultimate Backcountry Tent/Hammock?

If you like grabbing your gear and hiking far away from roads and other people, then the new Flying Tent might be for you. The company motto “7 seconds to the stars” calls out the tent’s super-fast and easy set up.

This all-in-one bivy tent/hammock tent won’t be available until July 2016, but you can get in on the action today via Kickstarter. At the time of this article posting (5-12-2016), Flying Tent has been a huge success, raising more than $187,000 with 8 days still remaining. (The Kickstarter goal was only $22,803!)

At first glance, this might be the perfect backcountry tent system for elk and mule deer hunters. It’s lightweight (2.64 pounds), compact (15.7 x 13.4 x 1.6 inches folded) and can be used in a wide variety of ways. And perhaps best of all, bugs won’t be a problem due to the Flying Tent’s clever mesh ventilation system.
