Target shooting is fun and the more you shoot, the more fun it is. Unfortunately, burning lots of powder can easily foul bores, and the residue from enthusiastic target practice can take a toll on your handgun.
Federal Premium Ammunition under the American Eagle brand offers range ammo tipped with Syntech coating, a polymer that prevents metal-on-metal contact between the bullet and the bore, eliminating copper and lead fouling. American Eagle Syntech produces an average of 12 percent less barrel friction and 14 percent less heat.
Splash-back can be an issue when shooting steel targets, and the new Syntech reduces this problem significantly because the bullets do not have a copper jacket. Federal found that compared to FMJ bullets, Syntech splash-back was reduced 51 percent (by weight) from 5 to 15 yards, and 91 percent in fragments traveling more than 15 yards. Currently, Federal offers the new range ammo in 9mm Luger, 40 S&W, and 45 Auto. To learn more, watch the video below.
