Video: Innovative Float Plane Takeoff

No water? No problem.

Mitchinson’s Flight Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, recently launched a Cessna 185 float plane from the concrete runway at Saskatoon International Airport. As you can see below, it looks like they’ve done this a time or two. One word comes to mind – routine.

Throughout much of Canada, where the landscape is dominated by water instead of land and roads, float planes are a way of life. The best hunting and fishing destinations in Canada almost always require a trip in by float plane, and if the weather is decent, the float plane ride is a fun component of any backcountry adventure.
