Video: New Texas State Record Alligator Caught

A new Texas state record alligator was caught recently in Beaumont, Texas. This massive prehistoric creature was measured at 13 feet, 8 inches long and weighed well over 900 pounds.

The record breaking reptile was brought back to Gator Country, an alligator rescue educational facility in Beaumont, Texas.

Gary Saurage from Gator Country said the gator will be named “Big Tex,” which is very fitting for the huge gator. Saurage confirmed with Texas Parks and Wildlife that the gator is the largest ever caught in Texas, according to 12News.

Saurage also plans to build a new pond for the alligator so he won’t invade Big Al’s space, the other large apex alligator living at the facility.
