More than 70 Giant Freshwater Stingrays Mysteriously Found Dead

More than 70 huge freshwater stingrays have been mysteriously dying over the past few weeks in Thailand’s Mae Klong River.

Officials are still searching to determine the cause of this die-off, however some suspect a recent spill from an ethanol plant could have poisoned the rays.

Just how big are these giant rays found in the Mae Klong River? Roughly, the size of your car.  According to the National Geographic, a ray recently found alive measured 7.9 feet across and 14 feet long and weighed 700 to 800 pounds.

Hopefully, Thai officials can figure out what caused this sudden die-off so they can prevent tragedies like this in the future.
