Florida Man Fishing Illegally Tased 3 Times by Officer

A Pahokee man was caught fishing illegally by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer, and according to the report, he didn’t go without a fight.
The Palm Beach Post reported that Derrick Lee Williams, 31, was caught fishing with a cast net off the Highway 441 Bridge in Canal Point. He was first contacted by FWC officer Bradley Toby on December 14, where Williams fled the scene before stopping and complying with officer Toby’s orders. He is facing a charge of resisting arrest without violence.
On December 30, Williams was back at it again. Officer Toby watched while Williams illegally used a cast net to catch freshwater fish, however, their next meeting didn’t go very well. When Officer Toby announced his presence, Williams allegedly threw his net in the water and ran.
Toby was forced to deploy his taser three times on Williams. The first strike was ineffective, and the second wasn’t enough to make Williams comply, which lead to a third strike in his thigh, the report said.
While Williams was being placed in the back of a patrol car, he allegedly kicked Toby in the chest.
According to the FWC, freshwater fish may only be taken with pole and line or rod and reel. Williams was apparently fishing for black crappies.
