This is a new one on us. Never before have we seen anyone hug a turkey, much less the turkey give some love back!

In this video, a man and a turkey showoff their tight-knit bond as they give each other a great big hug, except someone isn’t very happy about their new friendship. A man’s best friend is usually fulfilled by a dog, and this canine simply isn’t feeling the love.

The dog tries to get in on the love train, but it’s turned down by a flurry of pecks dished out by the turkey.

This bird would much rather get inside the guy’s skin than worry about some jealous dog, and that’s exactly what it does. The man releases the turkey for just a second, and it instantly comes right back for another bear, we mean turkey, hug.

  1. Not as unusual as it may seem. I raised a pair of full color turkeys from hatchlings purchased from a farm supply store several years ago. They acted like lap dogs, following me everywhere and pushing each other out of the way to sit on my lap on the glider on the front porch. They loved to go for rides around the farm in the cab of my truck with me and would chase and follow if I rode away with someone else just like a farm dog would do. When they were about three years old, some a$$hole road hunters shot them both while grazing in the spring wheat field about 1/4 mile from the house. Both birds wore orange collars but that didn’t help. All I found was blood and feathers. Broke my old heart as those birds were some of the sweetest, most loving pets I ever owned!
