Bob Owens, the editor of BearingArms.com, died Monday after an apparent suicide, authorities say.
An autopsy to determine the official cause of death is still pending, but it is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Owens was discovered laying on the ground near a stop sign outside his subdivision in Fuquay-Varina, N.C.
Before Owens’s death, he wrote a chilling post on Facebook, which read: “In the end, it turns out that I’m not strong. I’m a coward, and selfish son of a b—-. I’m sorry.”
As you can imagine, posts about Owens, who was a shooting enthusiast and a well known 2A advocate, have since flooded social media sites:
Praying today for @bob_owens family and loved ones. He was an amazing man. Please, if you are hurting, please tell someone. You are loved.

Tuesday morning, a shattered Jenn Jacques, Owen’s co-editor and close friend, published a story on BearingArms.com.
Its headline: “We Are Diminished – R.I.P. Bob Owens.”
“In the end, all that matters is he will be sorely missed, and the truth is that we will never truly know what happened,” Jacques wrote. “What we do know is that while Bob was a huge part of the 2A world, he was first and foremost a son, brother, husband, father, and a friend.”
Jacques also took to twitter to express her condolences for her lost friend and co-worker:
I apologize, but this is all I have to say at this time. Please keep his family in your prayers. pic.twitter.com/a2rNJcrCXQ

This is a terrible loss for his family and for the gun community in general. Here is a link to a GoFundMe page to pay for his children’s education.
