Video: Florida Mom Defends Decision Allowing A Snake To Bite Her 1 Year-Old Daughter

A Florida mother has gotten herself into a firestorm after posting a video on Facebook of her one-year-old daughter being bitten by a red rat snake.

According to sources, the mother found the snake outside of her home in Sebring, Florida and decided to use the opportunity as a “teachable moment” for her young daughter.

“It had bitten me and my son and didn’t leave a mark, several times,” she said. “So, I thought it was a good opportunity to introduce her without actually getting hurt.”

Here is the video, that has since been taken down:

Now, the Highlands County Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident, but the mother insists she would never injure her child.

How do you feel about this?

As a member of the outdoor community, do you feel it is a good idea to introduce youngsters to wildlife in this manner?
