Gun Safety. Gun Safety. Gun Safety.
A 22-year-old is dead after he allegedly instructed his pregnant girlfriend to shoot him for a stunt on their YouTube channel.
Valley News Live is reporting Pedro Ruiz of Halstad, Minnesota, died of a gun shot wound after his girlfriend, Monalisa Perez, shot him with a .50 caliber handgun, all just to get more views on YouTube.
It’s not clear where/how Pedro got a hold of a .50 caliber handgun – we’re assuming it was a Desert Eagle – but it sounds like he even told his aunt about the stunt before going through with it.
“He had told me about an idea. I said, don’t do it, don’t do it. Why are you going to use a gun? Why? Because, we want more viewers.” Ruiz’s aunt said.
Pedro apparently handed the powerful handgun to his 20-year-old girlfriend and insisted she shoot it at a book while he held it out in front of him. There aren’t many more details about the stunt at this time, but Norman County Sheriff’s Office reported on the scene around 6:30 p.m. on a call of a shooting. A med helicopter flew in to transfer Pedro, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As for Monalisa, she is now behind bars, charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. She is also due to have a baby in the coming months.
